Mr.C.Oommen Padinjattathil(1904-1990) started his teaching career in Mar Thoma High School,Valakom in 1921. During his service,he had moulded many students to reach great heights and still they remember the inspiration given by our father. He was retired in 1966 after a very long service of 45 years as an excellent teacher.
We are very proud of our father that he had been selected for the prestigious "National Award for the Best Teacher". This award was established in 1958 and it is given to a few best teachers from all over India, every year. Our father was the first teacher to receive this award from Kollam district. The award was distributed to him by the then Honorable President of India in 1964 in a ceremony organized in New Delhi.
Even though he was strict, he was a passionate, dedicated and hardworking teacher. His message to his students was this: "Believe in God and yourself; work hard, and you can achieve any thing in this world".
He abode in heaven on 27th February 1990.
